A rolling mill is MUCH more powerful for impressing metal than these crafting machines. You are lucky to have the rolling mill and I'd be happy to direct you to some sources for how to use it. You can get the textures you see here and many, many more for almost free (no need to buy plates) with your rolling mill!
Making wire does not come without problems. Most are easily solved, however. The most common, without a doubt, is over rolling. In this picture I have exaggerated the process, but what has happened is that the rolling mill has been tightened down too far. This results in the metal "spreading" out of the confines of the square groove.
The Rolling Machine is a Railcraft machine used for stamping out various metal items. It requires power from a BuildCraft engine. Items that can be made with the Rolling Machine include: Rails Mixed Metal Ingots Iron and Steel Plates Metal Posts Rebar The rolling machine uses MJ as a power source. Manual Rolling Mill: There is almost nothing to describe in this mills. Initially the mills were classified into classes, designed for purposes as follows: rolling of filigree, for alignment and correction of sheet materials. But due to the fact I didn`t designed fanc…
Does anyone know of an inexpensive alternative to a rolling mill ? In Canada, a good 100 mm combination mill goes for over $1000 Cdn. I am a hobbiest, and it is hard to justify that kind of cash outlay. I need the mill to roll patterns into sheet silver, roll out silver (ie change thickness), roll out my sheet solder, etc etc. Thanks Milt Fischbein
A rolling mill without a gear box, also called a direct-drive manual mill, requires more force to turn the handle and roll metal. Typical gear ratios for reduction gear rolling mills are listed as 6:1, 5:1, 4:1, etc. A rolling mill with a 4:1 ratio requires four turns of the handle for the rolls to complete a single rotation.

A rolling mill. Copper/brass wire (the gauge I use varies but start with 14 gauge) A heat source like a torch or stove (anything that will get your metal red hot) Various pliers (I recommend using jeweler's pliers as it is more forgiving on the metal) Various …
A better way to flatten the wire is to use a rolling mill. This is a tool that is not available to many of us. Hopefully, the Gem Club in your vicinity will have one. It is also possible that you may be able to find a supplier of filigree wire to alleviate the tedious job of making your own wire.
5. Cluster Rolling Mills: In this type of rolling mill, there are two basic roles that are backed up by two or more rolls which are bigger than those two basic rolls. These backed up rolls give more pressure to the basic rolls to heavily press the strip.

The Rolling Mill was originally used to make flat sheet and wire; but at some point in time a clever person discovered it could also be used to imprint or emboss on Metals. The important thing to consider when purchasing a Rolling Mill is how wide the flat rollers should be; the metal you Roller Print will be limited to this.
There are notes on making each part and the reasons for the way the parts are made. But the most important part of the plans is Hugh's insights into how the machine works and what doesn't work. He also includes a page on specifics about how to use the mill and problems that arise in rolling Damascus.

If the mill rolls 800,000 tons per year, it runs at an average production rate of 114.16 tons/hour. If the utilization can be improved by 1 %, the available rolling hours is 365 x 24 x 0.81 = 7096.6, creating 87.6 extra rolling hours. At 114.16 tons/hour that is an additional 10,000 tons can be rolled.

Frankly, making your own rolling mill isn't going to be as easy as you think. To work at all well, even with small pieces of metal, it has to be fairly well engineered and made of decent metal. Rolls need to be very round and concentric with the bearing surfaces. That needs a high quality lathe at least, not a CNC benchtop mill.

The advent of rolling mill technology and its development during the first half of the nineteenth century also heralded in the industrial manufacture of tube and pipe. Initially, rolled strips of sheet were formed into a circular cross section by funnel arrangements or rolls, and then butt or lap welded in the same heat (forge welding process).
Modern, efficient cold rolling mills can roll pickled sheets or strips at speeds of up to 4 m/s and tandem mills that are continuously working can produce up to 2.5 million tons of cold rolled steel annually. The advantages of cold rolling. Cold rolled …
